I captured a couple of lightning shots while on a trip to Darwin, Northern Territory. Thunderstorms occurred each day I was there, but only one evening was photogenic - 4th December 1997. Exposures: F4 and ~60 seconds.
A close storm developed at Ballina in the evening following a strong storm to the west earlier in the day.
A slow moving clump of thunderstorms persisted southwest of Ballina, NSW from about 9pm on 26th December 1997. I moved to a nice vantage point looking across the Richmond River to capture the scene. The storms moved a little closer during the late evening but no rain reached town, only some anvil crawlers later on. Exposures: F4/F5.6 and mostly 30 to 60 seconds, 50mm lens.
