Very electrically active storms passed to the south and south-east of Sydney with a strobing effect illuminating the sky. Unfortunately, by the time I set up the camera at a vantage point, stratocumulus was obscuring the cloud features. Lens: 50mm, Exposures: F4/5.6, Durations: 30 - 60 seconds.
Spectacular lightning displays followed a day of very stormy weather in coastal south-eastern NSW. This system sat off the coast from Sydney for several hours with constant mostly in-cloud lightning. The bright area to the top left is from a full moon. Lens: 50mm, Exposures: F4/2.8, Duartions: 30 - 60 seconds.
WOW !!! Some disappointing weak storms earlier in the day preceded a surprise event to the northwest of my place. I could just see some flashes low down in the distance at about 6.30pm, when I got a call from my storm chase partner to come over to his place. I raced over and was set up within 15 minutes and caught some spectacular bolts. All except the last two were between 10 seconds and 1 minute, F4 exposures.
