A number of storms persisted mainly over SE QLD and along the Tweed Coast just
about all night. Some very heavy falls of rain were recorded. Being about 70km
south of the action, I had a great view to take these photos from home at McLeans
Ridges. Most were taken between 2am and 3am on the 1st December - fortunately
the lightning woke me up to witness this !
A violent hail storm left a swathe of damage in the Maclean area earlier in the afternoon. Later, further storms developed in the west of the Northern Rivers district. There were some spectacular anvil crawler lightning displays that I missed, but got a couple of bolts near Kyogle. Storm chase report here
A weakening squall line gave off some faint lightning just after midnight.
