Some weak thunderstorm activity developed during the afternoon and persisted into the evening. A brief storm chase west of Lismore resulted in this nice lightning picture, but the rain soon set in.
A very impressive storm moved north from the Grafton area and produced some spectacular cloud formations during chase. The lightning was full on but the rushed nature of the chase didn't allow lightning photo opportunities. By the time it got dark the storm was almost dead.
A lone thunderstorm in the distance manages to produce a lightning bolt. This was taken near Coonamble, NSW.
After a weekend of storm chasing the long trip home was made more interesting by widespread lightning. These were taken along the Bruxner Highway between Goondiwindi and Yetman.
The majority of the Spring / Summer thunderstorm season of 2007/08 was extremely poor in the Northern Rivers and elsewhere following the hyperactive storm fest of October. Almost 4 months passed before I was able to see lightning worthy of trying to photograph. These pictures were taken from home at McLeans Ridges.
A nice Autumn display of lightning as thunderstorms just offshore moved up the Far North Coast. This storm was bit too far away but still nice to watch from home.
Another coastal thunderstorm situation just two days after the previous set of pictures. This storm peaked off the Gold Coast and I used the telephoto lens to get these shots.
