My first lightning photos with the new Nikon D90. Some weak storm cells passed through during the afternoon and early evening. These photos were taken from home at McLeans Ridges, NSW.
Some in-cloud lightning from offshore cells. The moon lit up the foreground clouds.
I finally had the opportunity to storm chase in Tornado Alley, USA during May 2010. An amazing experience with two tornadoes seen in five storm days. Lightning opportunities were not the main aim of the chase but still got a few. These were taken from a moving car (no I wasn't driving) near Goodland, Kansas on 23rd May 2010. A slow moving supercell near Walsh, Colorado, USA on 25th May 2010 produced a large wedge tornado on dusk. We had the opportunity for some lightning photos early evening. All chase photos for this date.
